Can anyone help our friend Fred? I don't have a non-cycling wife, so I'm useless. He sent me this plea:

I need help! Lots. A long time dream is to ride cross country but this is one time where being a dedicated hubby of 43 years with a non cycling wife poses a bit of a challenge (I don't have problems, only challenges). Has anyone made the transcontinental trip with a spouse who is not a cyclist? I have suggested that we go together, my wife driving to provide companionship and support while I ride but this has been met with less than great enthusiasm. Any ideas out there? Thanks in advance for your brilliant ideas, particularly from anyone else who has dealt successfully with such a challenge. Fred
