Adventure Edge Radio with Jimmy Buff: Episode 5
This week on Adventure Edge Radio we take a look at the dam that burst in the Grand Canyon and the danger it posed for outdoor enthusiasts on the grounds of Havasupai Indian Reservation. Supai, as the area is fondly called by residents and visitors, is a popular camping and hiking destination in the Grand Canyon. It’s an absolutely breathtaking area, with crystal clear aquamarine streams and waterfalls nestled between tall canyon walls. But it’s also prone to flooding in the monsoon months (but never to this degree).
We’ll also tell you about ultrarunning superstar Karl Meltzer’s attempt to break the speed record for the Appalachian Trail, fill you in on the trail running version of the Leadville 100, and hear from the winner Duncan Callahan.
Our feature interview this week is with Jon Bowermaster, a National Geographic explorer and adventurer. Bowermaster has written 9 books and filmed 8 documentaries, including his latest Oceans 8 project. And at the end of the episode, we’ll look at kayaks in the gear highlight and end with the Last Word and some thoughts on the mind/body connection.
Listen in and enjoy…
