We’ve got a great podcast for you this week on Adventure Edge Radio. We’re talking with John Rasmus, the editor-in-chief of National Geographic Adventure magazine; Christopher McDougall, author of the book Born to Run; and elite adventure racer Danelle Ballengee.
In honor of National Geographic Adventure’s 10th anniversary, Rasmus talks to us about adventure, the making of the magazine and some of the great writers at National Geographic Adventure.
Christopher McDougall talks to us about his new book, Born to Run, which is currently a Top 20 on the New York Times Bestseller list. Born to Run is a rousing true adventure tale that has McDougall traveling to the Sierra Madre in search of the legendary running tribe of Tarahumara Indians known for their endurance, prowess and for running barefoot. McDougall also talks about the running shoe industry and how running barefoot may be the best thing serious runners can do to avoid long-term injury.
Last but not least, we’re talking to Danelle Ballengee, an elite adventure racer who suffered a nearly fatal accident while running on a remote trail outside of Moab, Utah. Incredibly, after being seriously hurt and lost for more than two days, she was saved… by her dog.
Listen in and enjoy…
