Evan_10_summits_for_school.jpgYou might remember Evan from when we told you about him back in January. He was on a mission to climb 10 4,000 foot summits in New England (4,000 feet is high altitude in New England) to raise money for environmental initiatives at his school.

Well, Evan just reached his 10th summit and raised a little bit more than his original goal of $5,000.

Hikers Find Steve Fossett’s ID, Searchers Find Plane

Steve_Fossett_Wife.jpgIt seems the mysterious disappearance of Steve Fossett has finally been solved. Yesterday, a pilot’s license bearing his name, $1,000 in cash and pieces of a sweater were found by hikers in California.

The possessions, found in a bush near Mammoth Lakes, California, were discovered hours before search officials spotted the wreckage of his plane.

Lance_Armstrong_Not_Eligible.jpgDue to regulations that require elite riders to be in the anti-doping program for 6 months (after coming out of retirement) before competing professionally, Lance Armstrong might not be eligible to race professionally until February 1, 2009. Running America 2008: Charlie’s Uphill Battle

Running_America_08.jpgWe told you back in August about Charlie Engle and Marshall Ulrich’s attempt to run across America in 45 days.

Adventure Edge Radio with Jimmy Buff: Episode 9

Roz_Savage_Rows_Across_Pacific.JPGThis week on Adventure Edge Radio, we’re talking about “Jet Man” (or “Fusion Man” as some call him) Yves Rossy – the Swiss daredevil who flew 22 miles across the English Channel strapped into a homemade jet-propelled wing… and lived to tell about it.

We’ve got the race report for the Spartathlon – a 152-mile run between Athens and Sparta in Greece that traces the footsteps of a hero of antiquity. We also have the results of a report that says running slows the aging process. Good news for all you runners.

This week’s feature interview is with Roz Savage, who just rowed solo across the Pacific Ocean from San Francisco to Hawaii to raise awareness of environmental issues.

Our gear highlight is on performance sunglasses and eye wear and the Last Word touches on persistence in the face of adversity. Download and enjoy…
