You’ve probably heard of Pat Tillman – he was the Arizona State and Arizona Cardinals football star who was killed by friendly fire in Iraq just days before he was set to return home.

You probably haven’t heard of his friend Rory Fanning, who’s been walking across America to raise money for the Pat Tillman Memorial Foundation.

Fanning has been walking 20 miles per day for the past seven months – 3,000 miles in total. He’s walking from Virginia Beach, VA to Huntington Beach, CA in memory of his good friend, someone he says was “full of potential.”

Thanks to the recession, camping is replacing traditional hotel, inn or bed & breakfast vacations in the U.S. this summer. With most people on tight budgets, the affordable charms of camping are proving irresistible.

Camping saw a 7.4% increase from 2007 to 2008 and industry experts say the jump will be even more substantial this year. At one state park in California alone, 20,407 reservations for camping spots were made on the first day they became available.
