Primates may be our closest relatives, but sometimes we just don’t get along…
In Kuala Lumpur yesterday, an orangutan mugged an unsuspecting female hiker. The hairy prankster stole her backpack, shoes, socks and even her pants. The tourist claimed she was only trying to photograph the ape when it decided to snatch her purse. The camera-happy hiker is fine, but I bet she won’t be walking alone in that neighborhood any more.
Maybe the orangutan was just trying to get her own photo…
While the orangutan incident may have just been a misunderstanding, this South African gang of baboons means business! 350 strong, this organized crime unit has been terrorizing homes in the once-peaceful town of Cape Peninsula. They’re running low on natural habitat (and food), so they’re stealing from refrigerators and pantries instead. They’ve also learned to open car doors—let’s just hope they don’t figure out how to drive…
In other monkey news, this guy thinks we should use Google Earth to look for Bigfoot.

Oh no–silly monkeys! Maybe they should give the baboons a job. Then maybe they can buy their own food!
