Double Amputee Hikes Appalachian Trail
What’s the most important gear accompanying Todd Murphy on his thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail?
His legs.
A double amputee, Todd Murphy and his prosthetics are hiking the 2,160 + mile trail from Maine to Georgia as we speak. Currently he’s somewhere in Massachusetts, but promised his son he’d be home in time to carve the Thanksgiving turkey. He’s keeping a journal of his adventure and no doubt inspiring people to follow their dreams–no matter what obstacles they face.
To date, only about 9,500 people have reported completing the entire Appalachian Trail thru-hike. No one has ever done it on two prosthetic legs.
Until now.
We wish you the best of luck, Todd!

Go bro! All of us on the west coast are rooting for Todd. What an inspiration to my children, one of whom is also an amputee.
