Happy Labor Day Weekend!

Barbeque-Labor-Day_1.jpg
The joys of Labor Day can be summed up in three little words (and I just used one of them)…

Three. Day. Weekend.

If you’ve ever had a job, you will know how awe-inspiring those three little words can be when used together in a sentence.

Three day weekends are not to be taken lightly-they are to be treated with the utmost appreciation and experienced to the fullest. Some of you may be traveling to visit family and friends. Others may be sticking close to home and enjoying some down time. If you don’t have any plans yet, you need some. Here are a few ideas. The key things are to get outside and to completely forget that you have a job.

Things to Do on Labor Day

1. Take a hike. Instead of commuting to work, commute to that trail you’ve been wanting to explore, but never seem to have time for (because it’s not Labor Day).

2. Organize a softball game or tournament with friends. Play a double header at a local ball field.

3. Go fishing. We know that’s what you’d rather be doing most Mondays anyway.

4. Take a really long bike ride and don’t let yourself think about work once. Not once.

5. Hit the beach, lake, or river and get wet. Go tubing, waterskiing, stone skipping, or plain old swimming.

6. Go camping. You can go a little farther and stay a little longer than you would on an average weekend.

7. Throw a backyard barbeque party and invite everyone you know. Set up badminton or horseshoes and let the fun begin.

8. Visit a local festival or downtown parade for some community fun.

9. Go see a drive-in movie and sit on a blanket out under the stars.

10. Gently sway in a hammock and read a good book for the entire morning without feeling like there’s something else you should be doing.

If you don’t like any of those ideas, you could always go on a picnic. Really, what’s more relaxing than a picnic? Just don’t forget the cookies and the bug spray…

However you spend it, we wish you a Happy Labor Day!

See you on Tuesday.
