Kayaking the Congo River: Helmet Cam Video
If you’ve always wanted to know what it would be like to paddle a river in Africa, check out this amazing video of Andrew Maser kayaking the mighty Congo River. Not only is the Congo the world’s 8th longest river, it’s also the 2nd biggest in terms of water volume and quite possibly the deepest (which is evidenced by the huge waves and raging water).
Maser and his fellow kayakers were on the Congo River conducting scientific research (measuring the depth, speed and turbulence of the river, which scientist Ned Gardiner suspects might be the deepest in the world) but ended up having what looks like a lot of fun. I’m assuming the video was taken on a helmet cam – and a pretty good one at that. Watching it makes you feel like you’re actually paddling the boat, albeit much drier. Check it out…
