Biking Around the World for Peace and Conservation

Iranian_Couple_Bikes_The_World.jpgThanks to a comment they left on the post about Pat and Catherine Patterson, I found out about the wonderful mission of Nasim and Jafar. It seems these two couples are on similar wavelengths. They’re both biking around the world.

Nasim and Jafar are biking the world from Iran and planting “trees of peace” everywhere they go. The planting of these trees is meant to do two things; to remind the world that we can live in peace and to promote environmental conservation. So far, they’ve planted 455 trees in 9 countries — they increase the number of trees they plant by one at each new planting location. What a beautiful thing to do.

26_Peace_Trees_USA.jpgBoth Nasim and Jafar are international eco tour leaders and professional rock climbers; Nasim is head of the Iranian Women’s National Rock Climbing team and Jafar is a rock climbing coach. They also produce educational multimedia CD’s for children, among other things.

Nasim_and_Jafar.jpgCurrently in the Florida area, they’ve been stopping at schools and universities along the way to bring their message of peace and hope to the children and students of the U.S. Next, they’ll be heading west all the way to California. You can check their blog for updates on their trip and their website for more information about them and their mission.

I hope they let us know if they plan to stop in Colorado - it would be an honor to meet these inspirational ambassadors.
