The Strangest of Guinness Book ‘08: Video
The 2008 version of the Guinness Book of World Records hit shelves today. Just in case you haven’t picked up your copy yet, here’s a peek at some of this year’s strangest records (and record winners)…
Hairiest Family: The Gomez brothers from Mexico. They have a rare affliction that causes excessive facial and body hair…
Fastest Furniture: Manek Turowski achieved the high speed of 92 mph while driving his motorized sofa. Yes, he really did drive a sofa. Don’t believe me? See for yourself…
Heaviest Eyelid Pull: This one hurts just to think about. Dong Chaunghong pulled a 3,300 lb. CAR about 32 feet with ropes attached to this eyelids! Ouch…
Most Watermelons Crushed by Forehead: Where do they come up with this stuff? John Allwood crushed 40 watermelons with his head. I wonder how many Advil he took…
Heaviest Concrete Block Break on a Bed of Nails: If you thought the Eyelid Pull sounded painful, wait until you hear what Chad Netherland did for his record. He balanced 26 concrete blocks on his chest while laying on a bed of nails… and then someone swung a sledgehammer hard enough to break all 26 blocks! I sure hope he’s had a tetanus shot in the last 10 years.
Just to get an idea of what that would look like, here’s what 3 concrete blocks on a bed of nails is like…
None of those records sound particularly comfortable. If I was going for a Guinness, it’d be something more along these lines…
What would you do for a Guinness?

ah yes, the famous wolf brothers. Talk about being born with the gift to inspire. I myself have long suffered with an extended vertebra, or “tail”. Unfortunately it’s three quarters of an inch too short to make the Guiness Book of World Records. Well, better to be second at something than a nothing at everything is what I always say!
