Fireworks, music, dancing… that’s how millions of people worldwide marked the start of 2008.
Sydney Australia started off the midnight party chain with a huge firework celebration from famous Harbor Bridge.
In London, people lined the banks of the River Thames to watch fireworks and hear Big Ben ring 12 times for the start of the new year.

Inspiration can sometimes be found in the strangest of places. Like a trout farm, for instance.
“Resourceful” trout from a pond in the UK have been escaping through a small pipe 3 feet in the air that leads to a nearby stream. Apparently they’ve had enough of being at the fish farm and have found an unlikely way to freedom.

I remember ice skating as a child. We’d get so bundled up we could barely move and then head out to the frozen pond in the woods. The icy setting was beautiful… perfect except for the bumps, stumps and sticks that often sent us flying. We didn’t have a nice, smooth ice-skating rink in town (we also didn’t know about performance polyester or Smartwool).
So, if you live in one of the cities below, consider yourself lucky. And if your town’s ice skating rink didn’t make the Top 10, just be thankful you can ice skate without hitting a log.
